#TheFrontStepsProject - Kailua, Oahu

#frontstepsproject_kailua_oahu

The response to this project has been so amazing that my schedule is completely full! Because of this, I’ve taken down the form for booking but I wanted to leave this post to allow you to help through donations. See the link below and thank you for your support. Mahalo, KC.

What a weird week, huh, friends? Like many of you we are adjusting to life with everyone home and the new normal of not seeing our friends and neighbors the way that we might be used to. Keelin was very sad the other day just saying over and over how much she misses her friends. As hard as all of this is and will continue to be, I am so encouraged by some of the good things that are coming out of it. More intentional time spent as a family, daily walks in the evenings, finding ways of connecting with community via technology, just to name a few.

I was inspired by Cara Soulia, a Needham, MA photographer who began The Front Steps Project and decided to bring this project to my own community here in Kailua on the island of Oahu. Cara stated it so well, so I am going to quote her “The purpose of this project is to bring us together when we might feel isolated. I aim to highlight the faces of our community during a time when we might not see them in passing at the grocery store, coffeeshop, on the train or at the gym. Participating in this project is also an opportunity to step up to help those who need it most right now…”

So lets take a little slice of the good from this time and remember it. The place we are social distancing the the people we are doing it with.

How does this work?

I will meet you at your front steps. I’ll capture your family quickly (think 5 mins). Gather your family, your dog, your roommate, yourself. I’ll keep my distance (at least 6 feet). Once its all said and done the photos are my gift to you.

How do you give back? I am asking for your donation to The Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii and permission for me to share your images.

I will be posting your images to Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #TheFrontStepsProject and #TheFrontStepsProjectKailua
